SMALL BUT MIGHTY: WHY EARTH’S TINY CREATURES MATTER, illustrated by Catarina Oliveira and published by Owlkids Books, is my very first non-fiction picture book. Kirkus Reviews calls it “A climate-conscious celebration of some small, helpful creatures of the world.”

I have over 15 years of experience in the children’s media and publishing industry, helping to create engaging content for print and web. I spent about 10 years at Owlkids, where I worked my way up from Assistant Editor to Editor of OWL Magazine. While in that role, I helped relaunch the magazine into a STEAM-focused publication. I also oversaw the launch of owlconnected.com, a daily news site for kids, and a bi-weekly current affairs eMag (OWLconnected). I engaged with readers, parents, educators, and experts across many different fields and industries. I learned something new every day while working at OWL—which I loved.
In late 2018, I moved on from OWL to take a chance out in the freelance world as an editor, writer and content creator. I spent two years helping to research, write, edit and create content for clients such as Youth Culture, Ontario Science Centre, Let’s Talk Science, FIRST Robotics Canada, People for Education, Today’s Parent, and Owlkids.
Since 2021, I’ve been working full-time as a writer and editor on the marketing and strategic communications team at the Ontario Science Centre. But I do still take on the odd freelance project every now and then. If you’re interested in working together, just ask!
